When my column shifter is in the park position, it engages into reverse. My father said there is an adjustment on the automatic TH 350 transmission that will fix this. True?

Can I get some tips here?

Everything seems to work right except for the park option. It starts off from reverse then neutral, then drive, L2, L1.. I have no park...

I have my manual here, I see a few different adjustments. Which one do you think I should start with?

-Detent cable adjustment?

-Detent switch adjustment?

-Neutral start switch adjustment?

-Shift linkage check and adjustment?

-Throttle valve (TV) Cale check and adjustment?

Will do, is this a hard procedure? or pretty simple?

Thanks for the quick reply, it not going into park kinda frightened me

so, you can't actually get it into part? yep, sounds like the linkage needs adjustment. if you can get it into any gear you want (including park), but the needle reads wrong, that's no big deal. just loosen the screw on the column that connects to the needle's little cable and slide it as needed. my gets a little out of place from time to time. only takes a few minutes to correct.

Get under the rig and check the linkage where it meets the tranny. Mine "slipped off" and was all messed up until I just readjusted it tohow it was before the problem. Although, my linkage for my '72 didn't look anything like several books showed pics of. Mine came loose on a rough dirt road doing about 20mph.
