Long time lurker....posted for a while when I had my '83 K5 but a buddy blew the motor up and that was the end of that.

Now I'm looking at an '87 K5, 6.2, 4x4 for $750 needs a starter. I've also got my name on (though I don't have it yet) a '93 MFI 6.5 NA diesel.

Now I'm busy thinking over some possibilities and have a few questions...

- what compression is the 6.5 NA going to have?
- if I wanted to turbo it, could I add a turbo from a 6.5TD and leave the NA IP alone?
- If not, will a turbo IP just bolt in? Or could the NA pump be rebuilt to work with a turbo setup?
- are 6.2/6.5 motor mounts the same between the 2nd gen k5 and 3rd gen P30 van?
- Do the 6.5 NA heads have the same reputation for cracking/leaking as the 6.2 heads did?

Yes you could - but - the main point of adding more air with a turbo is to also add more fuel - too get more power.

You don't need to replace the IP - just adjust the fuel delivery.

The motor mounts should be the same - at least the motor part of them.

Uh - pretty much. There is a pretty good fix if you have them off anyway.

2nd what he said.

A '93 N/A 6.5 Blazer? Didn't know there was one.

Actually there is but that's not what he has.
He has a 93 6.5 NA from a P30 van and he's putting it in his 87 blazer.
94 was the only year for a K5 with turbo 6.5 after that they axed the K5.
