You drive this thing to the trails, right? Smog issues in CA will be a big hurdle.
Besides that, its not an easy swap, but it is doable.

smog is not a issue....i still have a "desil" so there is no smog since its a 85 an i have my desil title with matching vins an frame...i finished the truck now i want a new project
Oh, well if you already have a diesel, youre in good shape smog wise.
Easiest swap is the older mechanical injection cummins. Those were 5 spd transmissions though.
How into electronics do you want to get? There are a few guys on here who have done older 12v swaps

i HAD a desil in it lol but the paperwork still says desil...i dont care i was thinking about swapping all running gear too
