i want a dually for my next rig.

i know about 235/85 R16s. 31.7" x 9.3" x 16"

will 32x9x16 TSL swampers fit stock without rubbing? will 36" Michelin XLs fit in a dually? i'm not worried about fender clearance. i'm wondering how big i can get before i need spacers.

also, i heard "you're not supposed to" run bias ply tires in the rear with radial tires in the front. is that true? and why?

even 2wd, with a locker and 4 rear tires pulling, that will go down a lot of dirt roads.

My Michelins (37" x 11") uses a 16X6.5 rim:

Too bad it's hard as hell to find those Michelins.

i have been looking at 255/85/16 to run on my dually wheels.

and i dont want or have found a good set of true spacers.

main reason thay dont let the rim hub center anymore on the wheel hub. it spaces the rim off the hub lip and not will not center the best. big possible point of ride problems that is if the wheel wont center anymore.

not as big a broblem if running lug centric wheels that center off the lug nuts pulling them up center. but all dually rims hub center to start off.

i just spent over 1/2 hr searching the interweb and found some info and some pics.

the general idea is if no loads or light to med loads 95% fine no real problems. if heavy loads then thay prob will rub.

it all depends on the tires brand/model for spec widths. and also the spacing of the rims.

i did also search for true dually spacers that have the lip built in to them. i found a set on oru web site but $$$$$$$ and a other company but no real close pics or pricing.

i work tires all week so i am going to find some 255/85/16 tires and mount them on my spare rims and also bolt them on the truck and get some real pics for all of us. might take me some time. so be patcient.

I bought mine off of eBay from a place in San Diego. I paid $330.00 for my set.

And they're always selling those tires.

update. i have 2 new cooper st 255/85/16 tires coming for tusday am. i will mount them up and bolt them on the truck and get some pics for all of us.

well got my cooper st tires today. installed them on gm rims and also set them at 65 psi max.

bolted on the truck with no load. found thay are kind of roomy and could work. but the specs are 7/8 inch between them not at the bottom. and at the bottom its a tight 5/8 inch . i think it would be vary tight or slight rub at around 4000 lbs extra on for a load.

and i cant even fit my pinky finger between the tire and ubolt.

How about a side shot of the truck so we can get a general idea how it looks.
How much lift are you running on the truck, too. I'm wanting to look for the tallest metric tires to run on stock dually rims for a truck I'm wanting to buy soon. I plan on 4" lift later.
