Comp. poly motor mounts

Drey said:
smallblock and 6.2 mounts are the same I know, but I think that 6.5 mounts are different

Nope, 6.2 & 6.5 share the same block dimensions:laugh:

Now the tough question. The diesel engine weighs in at 1,000 pounds. Torque is also much more of a factor. How will that affect your mounts?

Thanks.

I would have to say that it won't matter at all. Same type of bushings (although more) are holding the entire truck up and being twisted and torqued alot more, so it should be good to go!

Don't get me wrong, you make some great stuff and I have no worries on the strength of the mounts. My concern is if the poly bushings have enough surface area to properly distribute the weight & torque.

Then again the poly is from springs & shackles right? So there would be 8 points for a approx 6,000lb vehicle, or 750lbs each. The engine would have 500lbs each point. So weight should be fine. Torque? I got no idea:o:doah:but I'll guess it might be similar??

Actually some of the weight is distributed through the trans and tcase mount as well. This also applies to the torque produced by the engine. The majority of it is transmitted through the drivetrain. The torque that is applied to the engine mounts is somewhat of a reaction, or cause and effect.

I tell ya what, If you want to try them and you break them from engine torque or weight I'll give you a replacement set, money back including shipping or build you a heavier set of motor mounts at no additional cost. I'll leave the choice up to you. How's that for a guarantee!

I think I'm a little ways from motor mounts in my build but when I get there I'll be ordering a set:D:D

Thanks.

these made just for a SBC or will they work on a BBC. debating wether to run a BB in my 72 & since no one makes comp MM for the Gen1s, maybe i could rig them to work.

They will fit your big block, It's the frame that'll be the question. If you have some time between motor coming out and motor going in, Send me your old mounts and i'll fab you up a new set. Usually I do prototype stuff for folks at a discount if they help me get the product done and its something that I can add to the website as a product.

:waytogo: Thank you!

o man that would be nice if someone would ship them their 70s mounts. I don't wana pull the engine out of mine for a set.

damn that frame. :D motor's been out for two years now :haha: & i'm still shopping around to see what motor i'm going to run. either a mild sbc 350 or a bbc 454 with some balls. but either way, i can send you the x-member with the horns, the motor mounts were pretty crapped out rubber...maybe i can get a better x-member built as well. let me know what we can work out.

man, I am truly unappreciated in my time. I start the ball rolling on the DIY engine mounts idea and Kert fabs them... and in the end all the posts are kuddos to Kert. Not that they aren't deserved... but I do get no cool points?

I got cool points for you! But better than that when you place your order!

Nobody gave me a hug when my chassis was used for the preliminary wraptor setup.

Actually, did it ever get done Kert? I know you were looking for something that had a "normal" drivetrain in it and a Caddy 500 that was moved 5" didn't exactly qualify.

Kert you will be contacted when the 572 goes in. I don't think stock is gona hold up to 700+ hp and 675+ tq.

Nope, didn't work out for the prototyping. Other than your drive train, I would of had to rip some stuff off that wasn't in your plan and I didn't want to do that. I sure wish it had worked out differently.

well looks like most of the questions have been answered .

now 1 good one for ya. will these work with the brace rod plates that sandwich between the block and mount. and if not can you add the tab to the motor mount to alow use to bolt our rods to the new mount and eliminate the plates.

dont forget there would then need to be left and right side motor mounts as the tabs both kick backwards.

chew on this one for a sec or so.
