ive got a set of comp motor mounts sitting on my toolbox for my '89 suburban. the original plan was a small block now i've got a 5.3L on the way and from what ive read, these mounts don't work with LS engine adapters. any plans for a different upper mount to make these lower mounts work with a 5.3L?

If the adapter works with a stock mount, it will work with ours as well.

I have seen some of the adapters that appeared to be made out of material that is too thick that seemed to be problematic.

I attempted to use an adapter when I did my 6.0 swap, it was indeed too thick to work with the stiff competition style motor mounts (I wasn't using the ORD ones though). I ended up just welding a mount for the poly bushings on to the adapter plates.

In the end I ended up rebuilding my entire engine crossmember and motor mounts to get it to work.

adapter plates add almost a 1" thickness to the overall engine mounts... which affects the alignment when used with the competition motor mounts designed and intended for a SBC.

possible solutions:
1) lots of prying (if you are lucky)

2) weld your engine mounts to the angle mounts in the new position

3) new angle mounts

it may take all three...

There is another issue at play here. Its the way the adapters are made. Most are made like this,

The ones that will remedy this issue are made like this,

Notice that the holes for the SBC motor mount are located about a half an inch lower (making them closer together) than the standard dtyle.

make it even better is ord and diy4x make the engine half for there mounts so no adaptors needed.

I know lots of people would buy them here and other sites.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. If needed, ill buy some 1/4" plate and make my own upper half.
