so it's time to do new brakes on my 78 project K5, I've searched the net and not really come up with any truly worthwhile brake mods, I have no inclination to do a rear disc swap right now or add hydroboost. Maybe later, for now just having brakes would be a bonus.

Other than just going all new components is there any point to high dollar pads such as hawk or EBC?

Otherwise I'm going with Wagner premiums all around.

Suggestions, comments?

Not a whole lot besides what you have mentioned not wanting to do right now.

Fresh fluid helps, nothing special just try to get as much old out as possible.

Replace the rubber hoses if they are deteriorated.

Heard of swapping the wheel cylinders out for the 1 3/16" one tons.

Just put some decent pads and shoes, and a hardware kit in the rear. Should be a noticeable improvement

Speedbleeders, they're dirt cheap and really make bleeding brakes a breeze by yourself. I have a pressure bleeder, mightyvac and kids to enlist to pump brakes but the speedbleeders are my favorite way to get the job done.
