So what am i doing wrong here. I just got a 350 and im trying see what the compression is. So i take all the plugs out, and plug in my compression tester. Since the engine is on a stand i turn the engine over using a rachet on the balancer. But im not getting any readings. This is my first time, so im kinda learning as i go. Thanks

no you have to spin it with a starter. and only 1 plug at a time. no compression in the 7 other cylinders would spin the crank faster cause theres no compression resistance.

ok...i thought that would be it. Thanks. Damn, I took the flex plate off before i put it on the stand.:doah:

So how am i suppose to crank it on the engine stand if the flex plate won't fit. Any ideas:confused:

take it off the stand and just block it off on the floor.. We do it all the time at work... Piece of ply under the pan and block up to the motor mount bosses...
