Compressor ID. For OBA

Does anyone know by looking at this, which compressor it is or is related to?

It's mine free if I want it and it looks like it'd be good for an On Board Air system.

Just wondering if anyone recognized it so they could say 'snag it' or 'not worth it'

as the tag on top says MOPAR ........ they used this style back70's maybe early 80's and or more years . there about as good as a york so i have heard . there a 2 cyl unit with oil bath crank system .

I seen the Mopar tag, but wasn't sure if they were just throwing their name on it for a dealer part number. But it built by someone else... It looks familiar. Just dont want to build brackets and find a belt, etc, if it's a crap unit lol

You can use stock early model GM compressor, search A-6 on board air, it's a frigidare compressor, 6 smaller cylinders I believe with oil bath. Been running mine 5+yrs now, all factory brackets

I just looked this one up and it has the separate oil chamber. So that's cool. I'll try it and see how it goes. Being free.

The Mopar compressor makes an excellent on board compressor .

I'm pretty sure Tecumseh made some of those 2 cylinder compressors for Mopars in the 70's..in fact,I've seen one that said "York/Tecumseh" on the tag years ago,maybe they had a joint venture making them for Chrysler ?..

Quick look on google shows some very similar to that under Tecumseh A/C Compressor.
I'd say that one will work well,seeing it has a oil "crankcase"..

I never thought about the separate oil lube chamber until mentioned above. That's why I looked for pics of this one. I always kind of wondered how they got lubed with no refrigerant.

Now that I think about it--a friend's F-350 Ford shop truck at a tire shop he ran,had a compressor mounted on the 351 V8 engine much like that one,and it was plumbed to a big air tank that was mounted on a headache rack up above the cab..it was used to do roadside tire repairs on big rigs and cars,it ran an air impact and blew up semi truck tires to 125 psi with no troubles..
