Consensus on hydro assist oil

Plan on using Mag 1 ISO 32- Light Hydro Oil I found at Northern Tool unless everyone says something different. Hard to beat at $9.00 per gallon.

I have no idea what that is you plan on using but i wouldn't use anything but P/S fluid or ATF (Dexron IV)

I'm running power steering fluid. No issues after several years.

Been using Gm power steering fluid in mine full hydro for years.

No issues ever.

ATF is not a good power steering fluid. It is a good substitute but really isn't that great of a fluid for a power steering application.

I am hearing more and more that guys are running a good quality tractor hydro fluid with good success.

Keep in mind that many of the early GM vehicles spec ATF as the fluid to use.

I understand that but with todays fluids and synthetics, ATF is not really a good power steering fluid. I have been around many vehicles with ATF in them and they work fine, however I have also seen where a system has pumps go out and doesn't work well and then the owner switched to a quality power steering fluid and after getting all of the ATF out their problems went away.

In a pinch I would put just about any oil in my system just to get it off the trail and on trailer. ATF, motor oil whatever.

I have heard good reports on using the Amsoil Tractor Hydrolic oil in full hydro apps. That is what I will use in my full hydro when I finish my buggy.
