We've been car shopping and decided on a Malibu LT for Julie's next daily driver. However, in the process of looking at different vehicles we happened into a 06 Dodge Magnum R/T AWD. I'm a sucker for a station wagon and a V8 powered AWD one really interested me. I've been considering selling my Camaros and getting the one we found. The price is right for a good beat-on hot rod and it seems to be in good shape. You can tune with HP tuners and it seems like there are plenty of aftermarket parts for it out there.

I'd anyone familiar with them?

Ok, speaking totally unbiasedly, i like some things about Chryco such as the coil spring suspension on trucks, the new Challenger styling and some other styling.

But Chrysler has some serious quality control issues based on my observations and knowing people who have owned Chryslers.

I don't know much about them since that was about the time I got out of the auto parts industry. I've been keeping an eye out for a G8 GT or CTS-V as well but have not found anything I can afford yet.

I have looked into them quite a bit. It seems like they are a pretty solid car overall.

Here in a couple of years my wife and I will be looking at pretty much those cars too. If it's gotta be a 4 door mine as well be a fun one

Sounds like you don't care about MPG? What does that car get in real life?

It's not for a DD. I'm looking for something to play with. HP Tuners will tune the engine and they make cams, headers, and other go-fast goodies for the Hemis and I'd have a family friendly (seats five) hot rod to play with.

Drivetrain seems to be pretty good. The most things we sell for them is usually interior and body panels.

Also, a guy I work with has this exact car and loves it. He came from an all GM fleet, and added this one to it. He loves it.

I know a guy with a challenger rt. It gets 24 in town and 28 out on the highway. Kind of nice being able to turn off half your cylinders

My daughter and her husband have the 3.5 V6 edition of the Magnum Wagon, they love it. They change oil regularly, had to replace a solenoid on the intake manifold and a broken thermostat in 170K miles of use.

That's not AWD.

2006 Dodge Magnum AWD 8 cyl, 5.7 L, Automatic 5-spd, Regular Gasoline

22 Highway

So like 2MPG better than my Suburban :)
