just swapped in a 14bff from a 77 sub into a 86 silv and was told i could get a conversion ujoint and was wondering if any one knew a part #

napa #447 for a regular, the extra strength one is a different # ask them to cross it over. but this will get you in the ball park. lol

Was it a total bolt on swap. I'm set to purchase an axle this week and I'm curious if it is going to be a direct bolt on.

348 is for older trucks with external locking clips (spicer 1310) which is part number 3-3140

86 1/2 ton will use internal clips (saginaw s44) and thus uses 2-1153 or 447 in precision, take your pick.

pretty much except for e-brake lines need ubolts and plates
being the axle is larger diameter /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif

No, it is not available any other way. Greasable through cross is it, and that is the only number available. 3-3140.

this 2-1153 is for a half ton shaft with inner clips that bolts to a 3/4 ton yoke and is not as wide across correct
and thanks for the info /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

2-1153 is for internal clips to spicer 1350. The spicer 1350 is wider, you're correct.

No problem, any u joint questions and I'll attempt to answer, I've got a catalog. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

so this is the one I need to make this swap the 2-1153 is wider on one side than the other? the parts stores around here are not very up to date the last time I swapted in a 12 bolt for a 10 I didnt have this problem /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

noticed you run 15 inch rims on your 84 do you have any probls going to install d44 in the morning and look to order rims soon /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

I run 15" wheels on my 84 with no problems. Front is a Dana 60 with 4 hours of grinding on each side to clear the wheels and tires. Rear is a 14 ff with discs and no grinding, clears just fine.

Yes 2-1153 is wider one way than the other but only slightly.

also the front if you are doing that required swapping the calipers /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

I go to napa's website and type in 2-1153 and 447 and nothing comes up except for some snap ring pliers, and some springs. Will I have to go to the store to find one?

Nick

Not sure why. They should have no problems getting the joints, they're fairly common.

I could have a half dozen by tomorrow if I needed.
