When I first started this project I had NO idea what I was getting into. I shortly found CK5 and joined and started reading. Well I'm just not a good reader(adult A.D.D.) Maybe we can start a list of must-do's for future 1st timers or reminders for us older guys who suffer from C.R.S. (I just got bit
in the butt by this first one, 3 years after making that first cut, so it just got me thinking about a list)

1. BRACE, BRACE, BRACE. Make door braces BEFORE you cut. If possible
leave the hard top on. The windshield frame WILL move creating a
snowball effect on everything else(Alignment wise) if welded crooked.

Ok brace, brace, brace, but what to do if the PO did not do so. Is there a way to fix the problem. I think the PO did the rockers with out bracing the doors

What I'm thinking I'll try first is put the hard top back on then cut loose everywhere I welded the A-Pillar, loosen all bolts and try to fit the hard top to the windshield frame and bed then re-weld it .

Do you know, or know were to get the measurements for the cab door to door and so on. To find out the square angles.

Nope, I bought it with out one. Only a soft top.:doah: I was unaware of hard it is to find one. I have seen a few, that need major repair. Not suer I'm ready for that yet. And thanks on the info, if it's to much trouble, wear to get that magic book of info would be cool. Thanks again :zombie5:

Greg posted up where to find the magic books a couple of weeks ago. Here are the links.

As far a as the measurements for the door area, I took a some last night.
I measured both the doors openings (the finished side and the one that is still braced) from the inside flange to inside flange.

1st measurement was just above the outer rocker, inside flange to inside flange and came up with 34 1/2 inches.

2nd measurement was just above the strike plate before the flange starts to flare to the rear of the rig. Again this was inside flange to inside and strait across, I came up with 35 3/4.

Maybe a couple more guys can take a couple fast measurement's to see what they came up with. It would be cool if we could come up with a general rule of thumb for the door openings.:dunno:

Thanks, I knew that I saw that some where but forgot where. But now I have it saved. As for the measurements thanks again. It would be cool to get a running standard if at possible. If I ever get mine right, I will post up my good measurements. :dunno:
