Converter Drain Back

yes the torque converter leaking down is the issue here. Mine is parked ass down at least 5° and no trans oil on the ground, hasn't been run in weeks.
could be a couple issue but most likely the the front pump seal and bushing, possibly the torque converter as well

I hope not, those were expensive.

Are you saying the fluid is dripping out of the TC and riding up the hub past the seal? Why would it go up? If it's just filling the pan, the fluid should be towards the back and not over the bottom of the front seal. Changing a front seal isn't hard. You know, after you've pulled the engine or transmission and the TC :doah:. How can ATF eat through silicone? The T-case silicone seals are bathed in ATF 24/7 at the bottom. Maybe there is some flexing happening between the two surfaces?

Do we need to page Ducato?

When the truck is parked for periods of time the converter drains into the trans, overfills the pan and leaks where the silicone is that seals the tcase to the trans. I have always had a issue in this location sense I built the truck in 2015

@Greg Ducato did build the trans in 2019.

I mean, obviously the sealing is not working between the two or it wouldn’t leak. Whether or not the converter is draining back. Something is gouged or warped or loose.

I also have a year or two old advanced adapter extension housing on the trans.

I wouldn't worry about anything being worn or damaged causing the oil drain back. I have never found one that didn't do it. Brand new Allison 4500s in our mixers do it, as well as every auto transmission that I have been around. Tis part of why you have to have it running to check the oil level.

I agree with @Fastereddie that something isn't right with the mating surfaces. You have to be missing something during inspection. Maybe the casting has a problem.

Yeah, I mean they all do it but why does this thing dump fluid out so bad.

Because you have a leak lol. Either something is cracked, misaligned, loose etc..
I’ve seen advanced adapters shit not fit right
before. It’s possible the shoulder on the adapter is bottoming out on the trans before it compresses the gasket/sealing surface. Something ain’t jivin’

It did this with two different transfer cases and 5 transmissions. :haha:Maybe I just suck at sealing stuff.

I guess that I don't understand why you needed an adapter housing from AA. Stock one wouldn't work? I assume that your passenger drop NP241 uses the same length housing as the driver drop cases, but is this incorrect?

The Holley efi doesn’t control the shift points in low range, so I moved the vss to the adapter housing so it always see the shaft speed vs the tcase. A 4l60e doesn’t have a vss unless it’s a 2wd unlike the 4l80e along with a turbine speed sensor.

I’m still running your old transfer case.

Does it leak right away after resealing everything or only after one of your Offroad sessions?
