Converting 1/2 ton to 1 ton.....

I need an '88-'00 body style guru....

My desire: To make my 2wd 1/2 ton '94 have eight lug up front.

Question: Within this body style ('88-'98 1/2 tons and '92-'00 1 tons), are the front 2wd frames similar? Is it a direct bolt on to put 1 ton spindles onto the 1/2 ton control arms? If not, are the frames identical up front, so I could strip a 1 ton 2wd to the bare frame and directly bolt everything over??

All the info possible as soon as possible please!!!!! Thanks, ya'll. And NO, don't suggest I convert to 4wd and use a D60.... I've thought about it, and it's just not gonna happen.

one ton frames/suspension/spindles etc are all different i think. If you are serious about this i would look for an 8 lug 3/4 ton. I think all that stuff will swap, because the frames are similar on the 1/2 and 3/4's .

However, i highly recomend the sas 4wd swap myself, (even though you said no) its easier than you think.....

He wants to use it as a tow rig. I think your best off to sell it and get a 3/4 or 1 ton, the frames are different then a 1/2 ton.

1996 c2500

I don't know if it would work for you or not, but I have a complete 1996 C2500 8 lug at the house that is being parted out for a SAS 4wd coversion on a 4wd frame. All the 2wd stuff is there (suspension,brakes) it even has anti-lock. There is some frame damage that's why I'm not going to use the frame. If you want I can get some pics so you can see if it might work for you or not.

easy find. look up part # for b/j at store if same then in luck. but frame is big diffrence much thicker than 1/2 -3/4 ton 1 ton 2 times thicker. now hd chassie dont ask me?
