I was given these front springs (told they are 4" lift) for my 1986 K1500 short bed and I decided I don't want to lift it quite 4", I'd prefer to lift it 2" or so. Can I just pull the shortest 2 leaves out? I know that would drop at least the thickness of the leaves and I would imagine the remaining 3 leaves would flatten out more than normal without the bottom 2.

Do you think I could experiment and end up with 2-2.5" of lift from these springs?
Is this a safe/smart thing to do?

Leave the springs alone. All you need is a big block, winch and bumper to make them sit just right:D

Sure they'll go down but your spring rate will be super soft. I wouldnt recommend it without a swaybar unless its a trail only rig.

Personally, I would try it. What do you have to lose but some time? For all you know they are 600 lb/in Rough Country springs to begin with. Plus, once the springs are installed, it's easy to pull leaves. Just support the front with jackstands on the the leafs you will be keeping. You can save on some center-bolts by cutting one leaf's worth out at a time.

I will be running a sway bar, will it still be too wishy washy? It's not a trail only truck but it's not a daily driver either. It will be used mostly for going up in the mountains and collecting firewood. Some wheeling required but it needs to be stable with a big top heavy load (why I didn't want to go so tall).
Would I be better off with something like these tuff country 2" add a leaves?

Thanks that sounds like a good way to try it out.
