Wasilla AK,
Just like the title says , I would love to run some old school Slotted mags on my brown truck but I hate messing with the goofy shouldered lugnuts and washers.

I have a set on my stepside and its six lug and I dread tires rotations/swaps

So can they be machined to accept normal lugs ?? maybe a steel insert of som e kind made for each lug hole??

yep there is a few repair shops that are setup to do just this mod. and also refinish them and or fix rims.

i cant recall a place i read about in petersons or 4wheel mag few years ago. but the rim can be moded for just this thing. and actualy top line rims new come with the steel insert in them factory. and lots of oem rims also use them.

I'm sure there are places that could do it but is it really worth the money to have it done versus the small amount of "extra" time to rotate/swap tires?

Sweetk30, My M/T classic II's have the inserts thats what made me think of it lol. can you remember what shops?? and would you want to sell me the 8-lug slotted mags you have LOL???

4x4high, yes it would be worth it I hate those lugs, and I dont trust them, I dont think they accurately center the wheel like the tapered seat lugs do either, and I cahnge tires more than my Underware so it would be worth it to me lol!!

Are the wheels you're talking about have the unilug holes (oblong that use an oblong plate with a lug hole that can be flipped either way for two different lug patterns)? Or do they use a shouldered lug nut where the shoulder goes into a hole in the wheel? I'm guessing they are what i first described and yes those are a PIA.

yes the shouldered style I hate them lol

as for the "Uni lug" style its amazing that design ever got DOT approval lol

The shouldered lugs are actually the best style even over a tapered lug. Those aren't bad at all, slip the wheel over the studs then put 2 lugs on a few threads and then move the wheel outward over the studs and install the rest and tighten.

The shoulder style drives the wheel from the shoulder/lug stud. Instead of relying on the clamping force between the nut/wheel.

I believe NHRA requires this style for cars running certain speeds/times. I know they require a certain ammount of thread to stick out of an open ended lug nut. But that's a differnt part of motorsports.

no problems that havent been my own fault :doah: on my turbines and slots both 8 lugs from western wheel back in the day.

so about those slotted mags........:deal::deal:

you want to offer me like the seats ya never know. i got a super smokin deal on them and thay are only a few years old road time not total life span.

3 sets of 35" i have for the truck. #3 h2 silver rims with the 315 bfg
pic #1 & #2 is same tires general grabber m/t 35x12.50x16.5 on western wheel turbines or slots.

LOL well I dont want the wheels as bad as I did the seats ( i'm still recovering from the butt chewing on that purchase) BUT I am prepared to pay a fair price for them .
