converting t-case from electrical to mech speedo, easy?

a guy on PBB told me that its just a matter of 7bolts and 2 snap rings, is this true? if so, could i swap my mechanical speedo stuff out of my 208 and put it into an electrical 241? i dont wanna buy the case if it wont work. thanks

unfortunately its hard to find a mech 241 that ppl arent askin $$$ for, so if this is simple, it would save a bit of money

You have to get a box for the speedo that goes under the dash. Search around, there are a few threads around, one by me until I found a mech speedo version.

well ive got mechanical speedo in the truck now, and the only 241 i have found at a good price is electrical, i just want to convert the 241 to mech. i read the thread bout converting to electrical, and i dont really want to deal with that. are you saying with the box, it stays electrical and what does the box under the dash do?

Do you plan to run cruise control? I assume not, but I was just curious.

Dont worry about the junk under the dash, he's talking about the DRAC and stuff. You would need to worry about it if you were planning on converting the rest of the truck to electronic speedo which you are not.

Yes, i was confused, I thought you were doing mechanical to electric, not the other way around. Its just a matter of swapping components, and of course, you need a speedometer cable.

no, 241 is all by itself. I was assuming you had a mech 241 and a electric one or you have mech parts. Nothing from the 208 is interchangable.

alright, well i guess ill have no speedo until i can find mechanical parts from an '89.

so i could get the parts from an 88 or 89 driver side drop chevy, or a mech dodge 241 correct?

They never made mech speedo for drivers drop, and i dont know about dodge stuff. Look on ebay and you might see what the stealership sells em for if youre desperate.

I want to sell the T case complete, but let me see how much of a pain it wants to be . The tail housings would need to be swaped + ??

I need to swap the electric sensor on my 205 to a cable gear too

well if we swap, then you can still sell it whole according to pirate, its jus 7bolts and 2 snap rings
