1996 BBC should not be TBI.

Since the 90 K5 is already TBI the fuel system will handle the pressures required for the 1996 fuel injection.

yea thats what i thought till i researched it. but vans stayed with tbi untill 1996. and the fuel pressure is going to more than double from 13 to 40 because in 1996 the tbi was raised to over 35 psi

I'm using a 1993 454 TBI on my 1993 GMC 5.7 liter. http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=259820 I'm using Police 350 TBI injectors , with 12 PSI fuel pressure. I used the injector pod / fuel pressure regulator from the old 350 TBI on the 93 454 throttle body.

I think the injectors are what really matter. The early 454 TBI had 90 lbs per hour injectors with about 12 PSI The later 454 TBI injectors had 30 PSI and about 90 lbs per hour.

installed the fuel pump and tbi today. had to grind the throttle linkage off of both tbi's and put the one from the 350 on the 454. didnt think about it until after i purchased the tbi, but the 96 van has a 4l60e so no tv cable provisions. other than that it made a huge change in the performance and was a simple swap. and luckily the trans adapt tbi adapter plate doesnt interfere with the much larger throttle blades. still waitin on my lift so i could only take it around the block cant wait to get it out on the trail.

Doesn't matter what year BBC since none EVER had a 700R4 there are no BBC TBI's with a provision for the TV cable. I did the same thing you did almost 2 years ago when i installed the 454 TBI onto my 350 with a 700R4 trans.
