cool product for welders!

Cool, but I have all that stuff built into my cart. And you could make that in 15 minutes...

I don't like the idea of using my bottle as a tool rack. That's what I have my cart and my toolbox for. The wrench looks useless other than as a comical paperweight.

Plasmas are nice, wish the retards at my shop took better care of ours... seems every time I want to use it I have to replace pretty much everything in the gun!!:mad:

Plasmas are nice but as long as I'm not doing a bunch of sheezmetal I'll take a torch anyday. Much more versatile.

Versatile yes, but much m0re expensive to use. Factor in slower cutting time and preheating, and the operation cost just increases.

I find both to be invaluable. Each has thier place.

I can get along without a plas but not without a torch. A torch will be the first thing on my list after I get a welder for home use. I do alot of heavy equipment repair... the plasma rarely gets pulled out.

Torches are cheaper to buy, don't need repairs at $75 an hour, don't need power, don't need new tips nearly as often, and can cut 6" of steel and are invaluble in repair. Basically anything you can do with a plas you can do with a torch (short of cutting 16 gauge and smaller cleanly) and whole lot more. I will agree that gas isn't cheap but neither is a power bill and repairs from the plas.

Gotta factor in one more advantage for a plasma. Not soaking an assload of heat into the material in order to cut it.

For cutting anything under 5/8" thick I'll take a plasma everytime.

For bevelling, material over 5/8", heat straightening etc etc a torch wins out. I don't like a torch in a home garage though, a plasma is a much 'safer' alternative.

True... I forgot about that. We've had a number of jobs where a plasma was the ONLY way to do it. Where the torch would have burned paint on the near by parts and warped the sheetmetal the plasma didn't do either. And yes I've started a fire or two without knowing with a torch. Caught my coveralls on fire more then once.:eek1:

:haha: You haven't lived until you've caught your coveralls on fire.

Yup I have also had that "man its getting warm in here" feeling...lol:haha::haha:

haha... I've done it more times then I can count... first comes the "damn this is a hot weld", then comes the Oh ****... I'm on fire! I'm on fire! I'm on fire!.:haha:

It's bad when you get all nonchalant about being on fire...

"hmmm, pretty sure I'm on fire. I really should finish this weld though." :p:

haha, yup I have that one pair I wear every time I weld or work on my truck. Not much left of em but until they are all gone, I can't justify ruining another pair.
