okay so coolant has been draining out of my truck like crazy so i decided to run it off of water until i can fix the problem. when i do fill the radiator & resivoir with coolant, it runs fine but drains coolant like crazy. also if i open the hood, the fan is splattering coolant up a little bit into my face. i looked at the lines leading to and from the resivoir but nothing was leaking. it stopped leaking a while ago and i figured "oh good it stopped!" but no, the tank was empty, and i pulled off the radiator cap and the level was down. had to pour water in there for a good 10 seconds to get it to come back up to the correct level.

when there was coolant in there the last time, after i turned it off, i felt around the radiator and noticed that one spot of it was particularly wet. not too much but enough to get something going. it was in the upper left corner.

it only leaks when theres a lot of coolant/water in the system and stops when it's low. how can i fix this? i got a hollister trip coming up pretty soon and wanna get all the kinks out before i leave to avoid mishap on the trail. im thinking its a radiator hose. where is the water pump again? could that be the problem? how easy is it to replace a radiator hose?
thanks

The water pump is behind the fan. The fan attaches to it. It may be a hose but may also be a pinhole in the radiator, try running some silver seal or bars leak through it and see if that will stop it. If it is a hose or water pump these won't fix the problem, but a pinhole can usually be stopped.

yeah i tried some "alumaseal" stuff but it didnt work. behind the fan seems to be pretty dry. when i touch the radiator it is slightly wet so im guessing its ahose.

You probably have a hole in your radiator if it's wet, in a corner, and stops leaking with low coolant level. Water level drops, and pressure will escape out of that hole, instead of pushing water out when it's blocking the hole.

Some places will test radiators for you.
