coolant temp sensor wire?

when installing my new alternator last night I also started yanking out a mess of wires that ran nowhere. for a radio that didn't work. power seats that were wired with house wiring and marettes :eek1: ... by the previous owner... and a trailer brake that I'm never going to use and cb radio wiring.

I traced a sensor wire from the passenger side of the rad across the rad support and into the firewall, under the dash and connected to nothing.

anyone know where this sensor is supposed to connect to? I know that some vehicles have two sensors, one for a gauge and another for ?? I'd guess this one only has one.... shy of pulling the dash apart to pull the temp gauge to check wiring.. any guesses before I start tearing apart?

thanks

oh ya.. 84 6.2L diesel :D

its not a temp sensor, its a low level sensor. dont know where it hooks up, but you should be able to search for it or something

ah ok.. cool. I thought it was odd being that my temp gauge was still actually working.

I'll have to check and see if it was wired into an idiot light

ya.... wired to an idiot light sounds right...

not important or anything, if you want to remove it i really dont think it will do anything
