cooling fan thermostat switch q?

and yes i do wheel the truck, but to be honest 75% of the time im just tooling around in it. its not my daily driver, but i do like to cruise around in it, i would wheel more, but its getting harder and harder to find ppl who want to go with around here.

Cruising is easy to keep engine temps down. Stop and go/low speed (for me it seemed to be under 25MPH) is where the cooling system starts to get taxed.

If you are talking water crossings that deep, I'm thinking you might as well stick with your electric fan idea. Flex fans suck anyways. :)

Sorry guys! I really wasnt meaning to turn this into a pissing match, I just felt like it was worth mentioning that changing to the stock temp t-stat instead of a lower temp made a noticable difference in performance. Since you are getting a chip burned with the lower temp t-stat taken into consideration, I doubt you'll have problems.

I don't think it's hurt anything. Simple fact is that Scott had tbichips.com burn a chip for his motor, and didn't need to worry about the cooler thermostat, so we're not understanding why the difference in requirements on this build. It will probably make it easier to find fan switches that come on/go off around 212-220* than it will around 195*. The fans should also cycle less if the engine upper temp limit is higher.
