About a week ago i noticed that my tempature(facotry guage) was about 240. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary i just happened to look at and it was there. Seemed to go back down after I got going and was in overdrive so I replaced the fan clutch with a "severe duty" which kicks ass but it was still doing the same thing. So I bought a new radiator cap and thermostat and put them in. Ran for about 5 minutes and now it was reading red or 260. truck wasnt running bad and oil pressure was norm but i pulled over anyways and towed back home. It seemed pretty hot under there but its hot around here. So I figure its the water pump so I pull it and put a brand new one in there and while im at it I pulled the radiator out and flushed it. Hook everything up fill the radiator up and way for the t-stat to open up top it off and let it idle for about a minute or two more with the hood popped open (its in a big garage with a huge fan so its not that hot) put the cap back on and its reading about 240. After a while it goes back to like 185 but then it spikes back up very fast. I just dont think its that hot. I let it idle in my driveway for like 5 minutes and the whole time it read 260 but everything is fine. So waht do yall think? temp guage or sender maybe? oil looks great so its not a blown head gasket. so for the novel but ive been wrenching like a madman and no results....

If you can put your hand on it and leave it there for more than 4-5 seconds, it's under 200*. If you can leave it there for 2-3 seconds or so it's right in the 200-210* range. If you can't even hardly touch it without it being painfull than it's *225+. If it's hitting 240*+ you'll hear coolant boil and heavy bubbling in the overflow.
