Cop friendly paint?

[ QUOTE ]
paint some doughnuts on it /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

While donuts are cop friendly they would draw the cops towards the truck....not good

Flat black is surprisingly good 'urban camo'. I'm pretty far from legal in a few ways and never get a second glance from the police. I do drive at or only slightly over the speed limit, truck is relatively clean, and all the lights and stuff work...

I'm thinking of painting it a medium blue with a grey topper in the spring. I have a few gallons of dark red metallic urethane enamel...but it screams "Pull me over" so it ain't going on the truck.

flat black if you drive a lot at night. or woodland camo if you drive in the day /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif

GM Midnight Blue #29.

It's good for hiding during the day or at night as long as you keep your foot off the brake pedal. Cops never expect you to pull over and hide anyway...

also whats the door height limit and tire size limit here in mass.?

[/ QUOTE ]

Door height for a BLAZER is 26" There is a formula used by the DMV to figure out the maximum tire and lift size, it goes like this: Wheel base x track width divided by 2200 = number of inches in lift and number of inches a tire size can be increased over stock. If you get about 4" you're allowed 4" of lift and 4" larger than stock tires (35's for a blazer that came with 31's) The inspection stations have a book that already has all this calculated out and they have the door height measurements in them, you're allowed 1" of free play from their book, 26" is the max with the 1" allowance, 25" is the base line. /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

That far over the limit, I doubt cops will look at you cause the paint told them too..........

I agree with you but I figure I need something I can hide with if they're looking for me in the woods. (it's happened before) I think a bright arse blue blazer on 44's is easy to describe but why add fuel to the fire with flourescent blue paint. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

So you break the law and then hide from the cops?????????? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Here's two solutions to your problem that would be more prudent:

1. Work to get the laws changed.

2. Move.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't run away and hide, I've had them looking for me in the wooded area around my house before. My neighbors were complaining about the noise because I had just gotten the k5 running again and I had open headers. I wasn't doing anything illegal since I had permission to be on the property, but the noise was bothering people I guess. I just parked my rig and shut it down until the cruiser went away. I would love to change the laws in this state but I'm not sure how to start it. I'm also trying to start some kind of organization to keep the trails around here open to the public. We have a few spots around here that are okay to wheel on but they border and pass through the power company and tenessee gas company's land. Some people have been dumping trash there, things like stoves and refrigerators, etc. and I'd like to ask the companies if they would let us use their land if we/I kept it clean for them. Moving isn't an option right now, though, connecticut is 10 feet from my property line and they have much better laws regarding lifted trucks. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I had it painted flat black and it was just like everyone elses truck. I didn't like that so I painted it "safety blue" because I had some cans laying around. This was before the super large tires so I didn't care much. I guess flat black should make a come back. I was also thinking of "khaki" the ultra flat color from krylon. Ah heck... flat black is cheap and easy and I could probably just sand off the blue and not have to buy any new paint /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Lobby your state legislators.......

You could probably look towards SEMA for some help.........

[ QUOTE ]
gonna have to go with primer grey. somehow that color just goes unnoticed.

[/ QUOTE ]

I painted a few fenders on the k5 to test the flat grey and it was okay. I'll most likely end up with flat grey or flat black. I've got black eaton wheels so maybe the grey would be good for some contrast, then again the black would keep my 44's a little more hidden. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

i hate to be the one to tell you but there is no color your gonna paint your k5 to hide 44's. trust me. i drive mine as much as possible, almost weekly to a cruise night in danvers which is right behind the police station and about 20 miles round trip from my house. i get alot of looks and had been told to get mud flaps and flares but that's about it. i'd say keep the exhaust somewhat tollerable and drive sensibly. if they are gonna pull you over they are gonna do it no matter what, you just have to decide if you can afford all the tickets /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. i agree with you about trying to get the laws changed but it's going to be real tuff to get everybody together. i have no idea how to even get something like that going.

Ooh! Paint it bright red, with huge yellow, orange, white and black graphics on the sides! They'll never pick you out, then!

Good luck trying to change any laws in this state, that is,if you want MORE wheeling places--if anything, the yuppies moving in here by the droves will do everything they can to ban us and our 4x4's--its getting real hard to find any open land at all that is suitable for wheeling in my area, even the kids on their quads are hard pressed to find a safe place to ride,so they take to the streets and backyards of those who have an acre or two, permission granted or not.Unless you are gay,and want to marry-then the laws here are in your favor--other than that,I find this state very unfriendly towards any kind of motorsports, you must go to NH or CT to see any drag racing or nascar events(not counting the illeagal steet races they just shut down in taunton mass at an industrial park near me).We do need a racetrack and more open land to ride on,they would be doing a good thing by building a safe place to do this--and they would make money, but the stuffed shirts that are moving in my area want to ban everything except more yuppie golf courses, heck, they even proposed an excise tax for boats and motor homes parked in your yard--many want them banned from private property, citing they are an "eyesore"and attract "homeless people"--one city near me wants to make it illegal to park a 1 ton truck with a bussiness name on it in your own driveway. If I were 10 feet from CT,thats where I would go--I like CT,they have more arts, concerts, less anal people as far as theese stupid laws go,and seem to be more laid back and friendly than us here in MA.I really am not proud to say I'm from MA anymore--I was born in fitchburg, things were very different there then compared to now,it used to be a nice hily country town, now its a slum with decaying mills and thousands of illegal ailiens ,lots of crack, murders, the highest rate of heroin abuse in the country--yet they still get 300,000 for a house here--I dont think its a good place to live anymore. /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

I'm not proud of it either. This state takes everything away from the people living in it and gives nothing back. It's funny how I can always tell when I get back to MA because the roads are torn up and patched yet every other surrounding state has nice freshly paved streets, with sidewalks and cut grass. CT has a lot more to offer, even with it's slightly higher sales tax, it's worth it. I just can't afford to move because I have a lot of credit card debt. When I get out of my hole, I'm leaving Mass... hopefully for good.

Anyways, I thought about the colors some more today and I think it's down to gloss gray, gloss black or gloss white. I like flat colors too but they're much harder to clean after a mud bath. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

This man speaks the truth! As someone 15 min from Fitchburg, yes, it is a hole of the highest (lowest /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif)order. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
Rob, I suspect your biggest problem won't be getting stopped, but rather getting that monster inspected if you plan on keeping it on the road. /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif
Fun having an illegal hobby, eh?

Let's just say, I know some people, who know some people, who do state inspections. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

White is difinatly the best color to paint your rig around here. I have had a couple of white beater trucks and they are almost invisible to the cops. I have litteraly driven past cops going the other way in town (street lights) with my lights off at night and they never blinked an eye. Its like the old white beat up farm trucks don't even exist. But my RX7 can't go anyware without being watched by the HP.

Here is the latest 300$ white truck on tow duty down in moab. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
