\"cop style\" spotlights?

can a guy still buy the spotlights that cops and taxis use? if so, where? Thanks, Tom.

Re: \"cop style\" spotlights?

I got a really old one...off of a 55 Ford police car. Got it from my father-in-law before he passed away.

I have no clue where you'd get something like that new though

Kinda hard to see in the pic. NAPA still sells them. It may be a special order item though. GALLS also has them listed as well as tons of other nifty stuff...

Re: \"cop style\" spotlights?

ah just go "BORROW" one from a cop car. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I don't think they will mind too much.

Re: \"cop style\" spotlights?

I have a couple of them. I have a junk yard near me that has a bunch of them. 50.00 each. you can buy new one, there about 120 new. The install kit can still be gotton from napa for 12.00. I have 2 for my big truck and 1 goin on my work/plow truck.

Re: \"cop style\" spotlights?

BTW, if you want, pay me a little shipping and I'll send you some of the one's I've got. Can't guaruntee they work, but I think I've got an extra.

Friend of mind had a bunch and gave them to me. Mine came on the truck when I bought it from PSO

Re: \"cop style\" spotlights?

I got mine from JC Whitney. They need to know the vehicle info so that they send the correct mounting hardware. It came with a template for where to mount it and a bushing that fit inside the mounting collar that holds the drill bit in exactly the right position for drilling through the A-pillar. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I don't think I have any interior pics, but I'll check and see. It's hard to notice it in the interior, I mean, it's there and all but... It's actually a pretty good arm rest /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

[/ QUOTE ] Check the JC Whitney catalog. I'm pretty sure that they offer them from the factory in black, so you won't have to worry about how to paint over chrome. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: \"cop style\" spotlights?

Harry's right. They are now available in black. On mine, as with the mirrors and misc other stuff, I scuffed everything up REAL good with some sand paper, then applied several coats of a flat primer, then went to a couple of coats of gloss. That lasted for about a year, but it's starting the chip a little.
