Cordless tool nerds: Nicad vs Li-ion batteries

I have had a milwaukee v28 set for the last 8 years and also the 14v nicad impact drivers. V28 tools are the 460 MAG of hand guns. Sure there is a 500 MAG or dewalt 36v, but you will just wear yourself out. I love my V28 and 460, both.
My lithium 28v batteries died at 6-7 years of use-everyday in the construction biz. I used my cordless drill to do everything, including mixing drywall mud or thinset in a 5 gallon bucket. I didn't need corded tools as long as I had my batteries charged. A new pair of batteries was $300. My brother bought the new red fuel milwaukee hammer drill. He loves it. The bad part is that the new milwaukee tools are made in china, but so are most others.

i picked up the makita 18V drill an impact driver set and have been using it to tear down my truck, with the 1/4 and 3/8 adaper for sockets and have not been disapointed. one batery built my work bench and got the hole front clip removed and interior gutted along wih using a brush cup on the floor. Now im saving up for the big impact gun and there electric vershion of an air rachet. could not be happier and no down time 15 min battery charge

I'd go li-ion personally. nicad will slowly dissapear. Granted it doesn't really matter as the years go by, and the voltage keep stepping up. But get whatever you can in sets, then you have multiple batteries to keep charged at once, and use and switch right over you don't have to charge until the job is done.
like my weedwacker for example. Last one I bought about 7 years ago was a 12v black and decker, I could only use this for that weed wacker, now it's all worx brand 24v li-ion, can use it in everything else worx. And all those batteries from each other piece of equiptment you buy. Wish I bought it all as a set, but oh well.
Same thing, whoever you buy, dewalt, milwaulkee, nicad or li-ion. Get something you can get multiple use out of.
Wish they made batteries like USB ports. Everything's the same, it'd be awesome to use a dewalt battery from my drill in a Milwaukee sawzaw, and my black and decker radio...etc. You'd have better batteries too if one company that's all they did.
