I got a rubber gasket with my filter and a cork gasket with my B&M shift kit. Which one should I use? RTV or no RTV?

No RTV! Use Vaseline instead. Honestly, use the lube.

I would look for the rubber ones with metal inside. should be reusable and shouldnt ever leak.

I dont like the cork ones, if anything use a rubber one with some gasket tac to hold it on place while you bolt it up.

i dont like RTV around the tranny cause you never know what that little piece that accidently gets inside will do.

Then again some will say they never had a problem. Just my opinions :D

Precisely!

Ive always used the rubber ones that come with the filter kits with no sealer of any kind. just clean both surfaces, push a few bolts through the holes to keep the gasket in place and bolt it up. only had one leak and I think thats cause I rushed and didnt clean the pan mounting surface:doah:

alot of people around here prefer the cork gaskets but Ive never used one so I have nothing to say about them.

I thought it said oil pan and put rubber w/ RTV. On the tranny pan I use the rubber w/ nothing else and have had no problems in several cars and trucks.
