not so much a 4x4 topic,but I really need this info:confused:
I´m building a 62 impala side by side my ´burb, and could relly need som measurments off a stock 84-86 vette, distance from underside frontsuspension k-member to the ground when vehicle sitting straight, and the wheelcenter to ground distance as well,to determine "ride height" so to speak,so I know where to mount my new front end

Stay tuned, I should have some info sometime today for ya.

Swedster, I'm not getting much of a response. I'll keep trying though.

thanks again, well,I registered on multiple vette forums and such,to get the info I need, but so far no luck:dunno:

a little info on the car...

62 impala coupe,86 z51 vette frontend,2002 vortec 496cui/8,1l bb,magnum t56 sixspeed,still to determine is what rear end I will use.

I'm sure you probably read this but:

"Most of this ride height information should be in the FSM for a stocker.. Usually ride height is a mearsument from the ground to some location (found in the FSM, i don't have one for my 88) on the frame. Not usually the K-Member bottom. sometime it is the A-Arm bolt location.

For wheel center to ground. that would be just the radius of the Tire... or did I mis-understand the question ?

Are you guys adding the C4 front clip to the 62'.. nice swap..! I'd like to see some pictures of the swap.. I would say the C4 frame rails will be lower than the 62' B-Body. might have to Z the frame rails to have both ride level unless your going to drop the 62 down to the C4 frame height (i think I would do that). "

I can get you the measurements of a 96, should be the same right?

I think it would be howdiy, maybe take an overall height for tire measurement also?

Swede, the front crossmember to ground is 4.75" @ the bottom and front of the crossmember. It looks to be the same at the rear of that crossmember also.
The tires on this 86 were 25 Inches tall, and I do not believe it to be a Z51 optioned car.

The GM service manual specs trim height be measured as follows:

Vertical heights; lift front bumper of vehicle up approx 38.0mm Gently remove hands and allow vehicle to settle on its own. Repeat 2 more times for a total of 3 cycles. Measure the spec'd heights. Then push down on the bumper 3 times and allow to settle, then measure again. True heights are the average dimension of the 2 measurements.

I didn't do it this way, as the car I measured from was a customer car at the local Corvette shop. It has however been a driver so suspension should be settled on it.

Good luck.
