So my 72 blazer is leaking oil from several places, timing cover, fuel pump, oil pan, possible rear main seal, etc.... It is time to just pull it and replace all my gaskets etc.

I am currently building a 350 motor for my truck, I also am building a crawler, and doing the work on our 2 daily drivers, plus coaching baseball. At any rate I simly do not have time or space to pull the motor and fix it.

So what would you expect to pay a shop for it? Time wise it wont be bad just need an idea when i go get a few quotes...

Also I have a guy who is retired and might be willing to do it cheaper, but want to know what I may pay elsewhere...

IMHO. anything at a shop would be overpriced.. I know out here.. in CA the shops want like $90 an hour labor. and I assume they would be taking their sweet Arse time on it to milk in the money..
I'd see if someone from the community or if you know someone that. would do it. maybe in the ~$200 ish range?:dunno::sign29:

Good luck finding a shop that works for 90 bucks an hour. As for milking it... not quite. The techs work on a flat rate system where every single job pays them a certain amount based on how many hours its expected to take. They can take 4 hours on a supposedly 2 hour job and still only get paid 2 hours. Kinda a ****ty deal for the techs.

Thats how dealers and chain shops operate. Private shops normally dont work like that.

Is your new motor so far off that you cant live with topping the thing off with oil?
