i want to turn the interior of my K5 into a luxury car.. can anyone give me idea's or a sort of a wish list to what can be done... preferred to have pics or links to parts which can be added

thanks

how about a telescoping steering column from an 80's caddy,

late model seats taken from wrecked luxo car or truck
new dash pad
a steering wheel from an euro celebrity (trust me they look nice)
new carpeting
any factory parts to replace worn originals will do quite a bit for your rig.

these are just some factory dress up stuff you could get from a boneyard to dress up your rig without the aftermarket stuff.

sound system that sounds nice overall, not just bass. luxury cars have decent oem sound systems.

sounds great.. what i have been thinking of doing tell now was to make it into a complete leather interior, change the sound system into a high tech fancy one with high end speakers...change the toolbox to a newer one that has a cooler with it... new carpets as well.. i like the idea of the steering wheel...

i really want to do this now as i am going to put around $1000 in this and i dont want to change my mind!

Get the front seats and center console from a conversion van, new comfy steering wheel, nice sound system and your done :)

You might as well add another zero to that number if you want all that stuff.

You could blow 4-5,000 bucks just in top of the line stereo equipment. Full leather interior inside a K5, done by a custom apholstery shop will likely run a few thousand too...

figure another grand in trim parts, carpet, new dash, that fancy steering wheel, etc.....

Do this.

we are day dreaming here.. i already found a CD/mp3/wma player from Pioneer that fits in perfectly and costs $100.. the speakers i found arent top but they are pretty good and cost around $250.. i making new seat covers will cost aroun $300, carpets will be around another $100.. i plan to do something about the dash.. might just cover it up with the same leather or plastic wtih same color...also i want to have a new console put in as well...

btw, i like the jacuzzi idea :)

do what they do to a 34 ford..or any hot rod for that matter.

take it to an someone with some stitching skills...put down a materials deposit...wait 3-12 weeks.. drop in a drool a few times..

then realize the body loosk like crap:D

seriously though. the k5 is not a get your money back platform but for some coin you have have it the wa you want. Go look at some hot rods and ask what shop did their work. Maybe you have cheaper shops in your area. 2500-12 grand is not an unusual price for a custom interior. it takes alot of work and skill.

why not swap in new model denali/escalade leather front buckets and console from a salvage yard, maybe get 4 and put cptns. chairs in the rear also

i already have a late 70's/early 80's tilt/telescoping column, i've wanted to do this, but i was wondering how hard would it be to put this in a k5 and wire it up? then use original wiper/headlight dash mount holes for toggles for off-road lights!

Not a K5, well, won`t be a K5 when it`s done, but I`ve been thinking about putting nicer seats in my 82 cab.

I've got a '90 K5 that I've had since I graduated high school in '92. I just got the new MPFI 388 stroker running this past weekend. Now I plan to work on interior and paint. My taste is more of an "original" with a "modern" twist to it. I wouldn't mind going with some leather, and will definitely go with new carpet. I'd also like to mount an overhead DVD for my two girls but I haven't figured out how to do that just yet. Not many places to mount it in a K5. Mine has a sunroof, so mounting it in the roof b/t the two front seats is out. Of course a new stereo with jacks for the XM and iPod are in order. Something I will DEFINITELY do is to add more insulation in the door panels, and in the rear b/t the side panels and the outside of the truck. I think "luxury" begins with a nice QUIET ride. I would love to see some pictures of what others have done.

i might be going tomorrow night to some shops and see what can be done in the interior..
