Could my driveshaft be the problem?

I have a leak somewhere that has trasmission fluid dripping from two places on the transfer case. The vent line was not blocked. The vent on the end was not blocked. When I got under there I see fluid on the floor board above the case but also above the u-joint. Then I notice that there is literaly 3" of input shaft sticking out of the case. I measured from the u-joint to the case housing and there is 3". There was some fluid on the u-joint. Is this the source of my leak? The truck does not have a lift but the previous owner did tell me he had the rear springs re-arched.
Please help.
Thanks,

Sounds like the rear output seal is leaking, as long as the slip yoke is not pitted or grooved where the shaft seal rides on it, the shaft should be fine

just a shot in the dark here......some slip yokes I have seen use a "freeze plug" type cap to seal the splined end of the yoke....I have seen them leak there before...just an FYI....

i lost that plug on the back of the slip yoke on my truck. leaked like crazy all over my cardon joint. got a new cap plug and welded it to the slip yoke. no more leaking. it also sounds like you need a longer d-shaft with 3" sticking out there can't be much yoke left on tcase output shaft. i have about a 1" showing on mine with a 6" lift, but i had a new line made.
