please explain to me how this all goes together. i cant for the life of me figure it out. im starting to think the square tube isnt off a blazer like i was told it was.

Tube looks right, more or less ... the brackets, I donno. Do you know what kind of CUCV they came off, i.e. M1009 (Blazer), or M1008/1028/1010/whatever?

Also, you're wanting to use these on a civvy Blazer, right?

the brackets were off a m1009 from what i was told same with the tube. the thing is the holes on the tube dont match up. i honestly cant for the life of me figure it out.

Well, the front and rear are different. How many do you have?

The only pic I have from my CUCV (an '09) with the bumper off is the front, and straight on, so not real clear as to how the bracketry works.

i got the fronts mounted already. i got 2 brackets for each side so four total. and then a tube for each side. the tubes have those two holes and then one on the top on the end farthest from the clevis

Eh. I don't have any pix of the rear, and as I mentioned I don't have the truck any more or I'd go look. It is entirely possible that they're off an '08, as a lot of people don't know that the '09 is different. Maybe we can find someone with an M1008.

I know for a fact the brackets came off a K5, they were on mine and I ran the complete CUCV K5 rear bumper set up. The brackets are left and right and they only go one way. His tubes could be wrong, seeing how I kept mine and used them on my new bumper.

I think his tubes could be wrong. Look at the offset of the holes in mine. I did not alter the holes in the tube when building my new bumper.

i knew your brackets were right wayne. i guess i can just drill new holes? or will that weaken them?

Well, ideally you'd drill the holes big, then sleeve them with a piece of tube (pipe, whatever.)

I recall the ones I put on my '74 as having tubes through them, and since I was doing custom stuff I just drilled holes in the frame to match.

The idea being that a bolt through the middle will compress the tube -- not crush it, but certainly can squeeze it a bunch, so the tube keeps that from happening. Does require a welder though. I'd offer to do the welding part for you for materials cost, but the shipping would be stupid, so if you don't have a welder, see if you can find a member closer to you who does =))

Actually, in retrospect, you don't HAVE to weld the sleeves. If you drill the holes to e.g. 1/2", you could cut a coupla lengths of tube or pipe or whatever with a 1/2" ID, and just hold them in place by hand as you thread the bolt in. Maybe cut them a bit short of whatever the inside width of the tube is, like 1.25" or whatever, and then put a good washer on each end. Then you're basically using the sleeve as a bushing or a spacer.

Does this make sense?

yea i get what your sayin. these tubes didnt come with any internal sleeves in the first place to putting them in shouldnt be a problem. might do that. or just get a lenth of tube stock and make complete new ones.

and no i dont have a welder. its on my to get list

Huh. I never took the tubes off my '09, so I don't know what it had, and in retrospect I don't know what truck the other set came off. :dunno:

Anyway, yeah, drill new holes, cut up some tube, call it good.
