Thought this was neat and some of you might get a kick out of it...

Even having just bought a quality boroscope a year or so ago, I could resist this today....

Now I know some may look at this as frivilous, but in all honesty, it's invaluable in marine work.. I've already used my regular boroscope many times this year.. surprisingly only about 20% of that was cylinder inspections...

apparently theres software for it, hook in to a laptop and record video stuff..

Thats cool, That could be used in some intresting ways..........with the miss's..............

Neat product. Where did you pick it up? Not familiar with any software, however it is just a standard RCA jack on the side so you can output to a television or VCR if you wish. If you have a TV input setup for a laptop you could do it that way.

If you use the mirror or magnet that come with it, be VERY cautious. The clips on them are very weak. I recommend customers wrap some electrical tape around the camera area to hold them in place.

Sold a bunch of those, guys love them so far.

been hearing tell of things thing but yet to see one, or find info online. Care to share pictures or anything? I know one Snap-On guy was trying to sell a guy one of the old Snap-On black and white camera borescopes that had a smaller screen than the VideoStik one. He bought the Video Scope from me. However I keep hearing the rumors of this new Snappy one.

Everyone kept trying to throw the "Rigid" one in my face. They sell it at Home Depot, it is cheaper than any other option, intended for going in walls, pipes, and etc. I just bothered to research and realize the camera on that thing is HUGE(17mm) that is almost twice the size of the Videostik, and way too big to go in a spark plug hole.

I got the unit from my Mac guy... I didn't even realize the port was a simple RCA, he was the one talking laptop/software, etc, so I don't know... as long as I can get a still of a bad cylinder, etc, it's all good, and not even necessary.. But in actualty, thats a small portion of what I use it for..

my next purchase? a set of tap sockets.....

Seen our adjustable tap sockets? 2 sockets that have adjustable jaws like a drill and adjust in and out to different tap sizes. Only $40 and lifetime warranty. Now if you need to tap in REALLY tight places, they are a little bulkier than a set of tap sockets. And they only go to 3/8" or 1/2", cannot remember which.

hmm, I'll have to look around.. the set my bud has are black, pretty thin wall, med length in 1/4 and 3/8.. pretty slick.... slides way in them then engages, nice... almost like it freakin has an o-ring down in there..

hey do me a favor, your thoughts in my welder thread would be highly appreciated...

btw, how ya digging the new career? I'm certainly kinda jeolous.. my prob would be everyone would be buying slightly used tools from me using everything on the truck! :doah::haha:

This is what we currently have.

This is what they're thinking about buying for us. Does everything our current one does, but is cordless and has no "suitcase" for the power supply/light source. High 5-figure price tag IIRC...

Keeping busy and paying bills, at this point that is all I ask for. Unfortunately I have no time or money for projects though. Have my project truck up for sale in the sales section.

And I cannot say I haven't done that once or twice already. More thing have ended up a part of my box than probably should, ha.

old school dood:X lol great for machinists though, they love em...

tdl8 and tdl3 is our part number on the tap socket sets, they're made by lisle, those things are the best tool ever invented for tapping... they do have an o-ring at the top, btw

yup, now that you mention it, they do look like an Lisle product... nice...

my mechanics and I used the Videostik 3 or 4 times this week.. awesome...

I second the tap sockets. I use the crap out of them. The guys are always trying to borrow them. I told them about the "Ryoken Tool Borrowing Philosophy". "If you have to borrow a tool more than twice, you should buy your own.":D

Bruiser

3 time use rule bit was my philosophy as well. Heck I ended up owning a scan tool for that reason.
