ok so i got a few more questions and pic requests.....I am working on my 72' blazer and was wondering what you guys have done for stereo's I have a working stock am radio i am putting back into the dash, but am needing an idea for a spot for the cd player, i was thinking the console, or getting a tuffy console.

Also, i am pulling the drivetrain out of my 84' to put into the 72' i have a hydraulic sm465 and 208xcase, anyone else have this combo in an early chevy? just wanting to get a visual of a crossmember and where the slave cylinder on the firewall will mount. I got the clutch pedals already also. Does anyone know if i need the factory crossmember or can i modify my 84's?

This doesn't totally solve your CD player problem, but I'm building a custom radio built to fit into the stock dash location. It has a CD player in it, but it won't work in the stock location, but if you burn all your CD's to an MP3 player, you can hook it up and control it right from the head unit.

If you want the plans, I'm happy to share. I'm still waiting for some machine work to be completed to post an update.

Here's the thread.

I mounted a CD head unit and 6 disc changer in the center console so I could keep the AM/8-track the original owner had installed in the dash. There are no indications of it being in there until you lift the lid. It still leaves space for storage too. I've got pics on my work computer so it will have to wait until tomorrow.

I mounted the head unit vertically at the front of the console with one of these: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-94ApVlFESTt/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=752&I=120999000

Here's a pic similar to what I did. I found this on the web years ago and kept it for inspiration. I hav no clue who's this is, but mine looks almost identical (but the console is orange)
