Hey guys, I have a 81 k10 sub. and am ready to do some body work so here we go. First I am going to lift the body off the frame. I am going to build something I can drive under then lift the body up and push the chasis out form under it. I was wondering can I lift the body with 1 strap. I know the more lift points the better but to keep it simple what if a found the center of the burbs weight front to back and ran my strap through the door opening at that spot to lift it? Or would the body not be able to handle it? Second my burb is power everything, can I replace the window tailgate with a truck tailgate? If so what range of years would work? Has anybody out there done this? Also want to get rid of my power windows, what years of doors could I use to replace mine?

One strap under a suburban sounds like a real pain to get right. Not to mention you'd be putting a heck of a load on the door edges (rain channel probably?) and might crimp the body.

With some 235's or 31's on my K5 frame, pallets on end were high enough to get the frame underneath as I recall. 4x4's across the pallets to set the body on, used a floor jack to get it up high enough to put the 4x4's under. If you tied the pallets together good, (couple 2x4's across the bottom, screw the 4x4's to the pallet "top") don't see any reason it wouldn't be safe, as long as it was tall enough.

That's about the cheapest/easiest way I can think to do it, unless you've got a forklift handy. :)
