I just picked up an 87 k5 Blazer cheap. It needs some work but should be a fun project. Got a few quick questions, First the heater and ac dont work at all, turn them on and nothing, the power door locks only open the locks they don not close them, and the windows do not work. Im thinking i need to replace the regulator and motors on those. Any help would be great.

could be as simple as the fuses a $15 blower motor. hard to say without taking a look. either way.. most the part for these items are cheap and easy to find.

On climate control, can you hear the vacuum actuating when you turn the controls? If not, I'd start there and find your missing vacuum line or leak. Other stuff, I'm no real help.

There is nothing, no noise at all. No fan that turns on or anything. Im goin to check the fuses tomorrow

When you move those switches around, you should be able to hear the vacuum actuating everything. As such, I'd suggest you look into vacuum leaks and start there. Fan is electrically powered, but the vent selection switch is vac. operated.

Ill check again today. Anyone have any diagrahms or picures of the vacuum system on the climate control and the location of the realays and resistors to it? Thanks

My '91 did the same thing with the door locks when I bought it. I think the previous owner never used the locks. All I did was kept pushing an holding lock, then unlock, lock, unlock, out of frustration... and it worked! The more I used them, the better they worked, a little lube on the mechanism helped also. Worth a shot. Colby's right, you should be able to hear the vacuum actuator make a hissing sound as you switch between AC and vent and heat, it will make a fairly loud hissing sound as it tries to move the heater controls in the housing. The Fan not working is either a bad fuse(s) , bad blower fan, or maybe a relay, but I can't remember if there are relays on the heater controls of these blazers like newer cars...

If you don't hear vacuum actuators and doors moving, I'd start under the hood. There is a vacuum storage ball on the drivers side near the firewall. Vacuum is supplied to that from the intake, just under the throttle body. Most likely on the back side. Cruise control is also tied into this if you have it.

I'd start by removing the air cleaner and following all the vacuum lines around. There may not be any good diagrams on it but it's not hard to figure out with a basic understanding of how it works.

As someone mentioned, the fan is electric. Not affected by any of the vacuum issues. Check the basics first. Fuses and the plugs at the fan and the resistor pack. Both can be found under the hood on the pass side. Single wire power plug to the motor. A 4 or 5 wire plug to the resistor right on top of the heater box.

As far as no air flow, check the ground wire for the blower motor. If it is loose or corroded, the blower motor will not work. I had the same issue and that was the problem.

As for the lock actuators, its most likely a connection/corrosion issue. Clean up the switches and see, or you can replace them, they are available relatively cheaply.

So just checked over everything, the wire from the relay to the blower motor was off and layin there. Pluged it in an now I have something. It works on low and the 2 next settings but when i select hi it turns off completely. The flex hose behind the glove box wasnt hooked up, so I put that back on and now I have heat goin to the passenger. It blows alot better to the passenger than the driver, so I am going to remove the dash and check all the duct work. The A/C doesnt work either, I jumped the sensor with a wire and the ac compressor kicks on so maybe it just needs a charge. So far were makin progress. Is there some sort of resistor that connects to the motor selector switch that I can replace so I have the high setting?

I don't know about a resistor, but you can bypass the relay and determine if that is the problem. Once again, make sure that ground wire is good, as if it isn't a good connection it will cut out. Mine would work on medium, but not low or high until I really cleaned and tightened it up. You'll also want to test the electrical fan speed selector switch while you've got the dash apart as those sometimes have problems.

Ok. What do you mean test the electrical fan speed selector wire. put a meter on it?

The high speed is direct 12 Volts, no resistor. The switches are pretty poor and it if was run on high all the time, the switch and connector get hot and burn, melt, or otherwise give up. Usually you can see it before testing with a meter.

Ok cool. Thats what I figured, since it works on low and the 2 medium settings. Guess Ill have to pick up a new switch. My LMC catalog should be here next week.
