im gonna buy a 60 soon and my tranfer case chain is making noise...so im thinking of getting a hi pinion 60...i have a few questions though...

1.is the chevy and ferd perches in the same place??
2.what transfer case can i get (becides a 205) that has good ratio that will bolt up to my 700r??
3.also anything elce involved with the swap i need to know about..

any pics would be great also..thanks guys :waytogo:

as far as tcase to bolt to a 700R4 with a Ford drivers drop axle your only easy choice is a NP241 from an IFS chevy. It will bolt right up and have the output on the correct side. Crawl ratio is the 2.72:1 but it is the thin aluminum case so you need a good skidplate.

As far as the rest of the Ford axle specifics I am not sure.

i was almost thinking about a 231 from a s10 if it would work but i dont know if they have a better lo range than the 241 or not...im running a 208 right now so would i need a diffrent crossmember and all for a 241??

find a 78 or 79 ford d60. perches are right and high pinion and kingpin

thanks man!!also i was just wondering will the borg warner ferd case bolt up to a 27 spine 700..just a thought i know where there is a ton of them...

i was thinking about just bucking up and buying a lowmax 205 but i dont think they make them for drivers drop or at least thats what i was told...

Nope they don't make Lomax cases for drivers drop. The 241 should bolt right in place of a 208 with the same crossmember. The only differnce is you might have to move the skidplate to the driversside and you may more may not get to retain the torque rod.

A 241 is also a stronger case then a 231 and should have a similar lowrange.

so is the swap worth it for hi pinion??i will be moving my axle forway somewhere around 4 to 5 inches with a set of for 57s...

Hi pinion diffs rock. They keep your driveshaft alot higher and out of harms weigh.

also have the option of a doubler and used a chevy 203 and get the adaptor for a 31 spline ford 205

i dont want to run a doubler cause of the weight and length...i would buy a black box or a klune before i did that...but i relly wanted to get a lowmax because of strength good enough gear for me and i could get one that bolted right up to my trans..

Reverse CUT not reverse rotation. The gears still spin the same direction they're just actually cut for a front application. Stronger.

If you can get both it should be a good swap. A NV241 out of an IFS truck would be stronger than a NP208 and have 2.72:1 instead of 2.62:1 of the NP208.
Only problem might be the speedo output on the NV241. I know at least by '92 they all had electrically driven speedos so you'd have to figure out how to drive your speedometer unless some of the early IFS trucks had gear driven speedos...which I don't think they did.
Skip the NP231.
