cowl hood

i want to make a cowl hood for my 86 k5. has anyone done this? i want to get about 2-3 inches out of it. put i cant see spending 400 dollars for a hood.

i also need some demensions length, width, ect. if any body has a cowl hood and doesnt mind helping out, i need lots of pictures.

It's not a cowl hood, but I'd like to eventually do something similar to my truck. Kind of reminds me of the newer heavy duty GM hoods.
