At the front seat mounding bolts. Any thoughts on fixing this?

Situation: '89 blazer. Having searched through the forum, I see that I'm not the only one to have experienced this. Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to take it to a body shop to have the pan replaced. I'd like to avoid replacing the entire pan if possible. The affected area is limited and any rust is only what you see here. I'm replacing the old seats with those from a 2001 Silverado. (will not be using the old mounding holes). My initial thought was to completely cut out the affected area and simply weld in a replacement patch. Will this work?

Thoughts or advice? I'm new so I'd appreciate any help offered.

Thanks...

You got it. A little of this,:hack: followed by a little of that :weld: and you get :saweet:.
Remove, weld in a patch panel and mount your new seats how ever you need too. Depending on seatbelt configuraton, you may need to re-enforce the attachment point at the floor panel.

If you're not using those mount holes again, I'd push the sunken areas up and weld up the cracks.

Thank you. Honestly, it looked so scary to me when I uncovered it, I only thought to remove it. But I'll put some elbow grease into it today and see if I can't get a more uniform surface and weld tight. And yes, it's going to be a whole new set of holes for the new seats, probably involving some mounting rails and reinforced plating underneath (seat belts are integrated into seats)

Again, thank you. I will post my handy work when done.
