Apparently romping into 4+ foot deep snowbanks at WOT for hours on end and packing snow up around the headers is not good for them. :doah:

I noticed an exhaust leak that had formed from a small crack in my drivers side header last summer, and the crack continued to grow. I finally got around to welding it up and discovered not only had the crack grown to about 4" long, another, bigger one had formed on the adjacent primary tube. So I said screw it and pulled the header off so I could get better access to it with the MIG.

I drilled holes at the end of each crack (at least the ones I could reach with the drill) to cease any further growth of the crack.

*WARNING* The following pics contain graphic images of booger welds from an amateur welder. If you have a weak stomach, turn away now

Unfortunately, only about half of the pics I took saved..... the memory card in my camera is acting like it's corrupted and I was running out of daylight so I didn't mess with it. The welds aren't the prettiest but it's sealed and that's all that matters to me. The truck sounds a whole lot better now too!

I just thought I'd share so that the information is here for someone else dealing with a cracked header.

I believe so, they're the Tri-Y design. They were on the engine when I bought the truck from a mud racer 5 years ago.
