Hit a rock in the snow with my M1008, denting the front diff cover and causing a 1" crack on the front of my transfer case near the output, kind of where you would expect to see it. The transfer case still functions, It has a steady drip leak, I limped it home and its sitting in my garage. This is my daily driver toy hauler, I usually drive it carefully to keep it dependable. My questions are:
1. Can I weld the crack shut? even as a temporary fix? or is that to be avoided.
2. I have a spare NP208 from my '88 GMC K5 that sat behind a TH700R4. what would need to be changed to make this swap in behind the TH400?

Thanks in advance.

Would need to swap input shaft/gear

Gotta take the whole thing apart to do it... but it's not that bad.

Just like Marv says , its not really hard . Jaysbeast and I did mine fairly straightforward . Just get an exploded diagram ( I have at home ) and pay close attention . Taking pics helps :D
