foot....

I got a cracked or split place right where by big toe attaches to my foot on the bottom. It's pretty deep and won't heal because I keep tearing it loose.

I tried some super glue last night but when I got out of bed and stepped on it it split open again...

wonder if I need to have it stitched or has anybody had this before and how did you fix it???:dunno::dunno:
 
I need a shoe or boot with a hard sole that doesn't flex...that way the toe wont bend and split...wonder how long it takes for that to grow together???
 
I've had this. It's hard to immobilize it b/c you move your big toe alot without realizing it. The fix for me was completely slathering it in neosporin at night and then wearing a sock to sleep. Same during the day to keep it moist and soft. A few days of this and it stopped splitting.

I hear ORD makes a repair patch and brace to triangulate that!....

Haha could not resist.

I do however agree with the use super glue and some kind of splint; other than stitched.

I will try that...I need a "foot glove" made of nitryl so I could grease it up and prevent the sock from soaking it all up
 
I would try some zinc chromate and kitty hair fiberglass resin, but I don't think it would stick :haha:
 
Bag Balm and duct tape (over gauze) ...heard it works well,never tried it myself...
I've used super glue on cuts on my hands and fingers before,no other places though..there is surgical grade non toxic stuff available...trouble is its not flexible enough...you need something more like RTV silicone or Shoe-Goo !..

A medical research company near me makes a type of artificial skin that "grows" over wounds now too..a lot of stem cell research in wound treatment is going on there too I hear..pretty soon we'll be able to regenerate lost limbs ,just like lizards grow new tails..:eek1:
 
my grandfather on moms side was ol school farmer.

1 day he nipped his finger good . should of had stiches but didn't.

took a hunk of his old school long cut redman chew direct from his mouth and smacked it on there . then tore off some of his hanky and covered it and went back to work .

kept this up for a few days and was good a new till the day he passed on at around 92-93 years old if I recall . :D
 
I put Neosporin in the crack and a bunch of Cetiphil lotion on the bottom of my foot and put a plastic grocery bag on and a sock...we shall see how this does...hopefully soften up the skin and make it pliable again
 
Dang we all must be bored. Hope u figure something out, that sucks. You got something at both ends, lol.

I posted in the garage because this is killing me...I couldn't hardly walk today...don't want to go to the doctor unless I have to...figured somebody on here would have some experience with this.

Superglue was a disappointment...considering that is what it was created for...bonding skin...used on the battlefield in Vietnam to quick patch soldiers
 
Epson salt and warm water, keep it moist and covered, going to have good weather In our zone this week! Get one of those wax machines you can put your feet in.
 
I use to use a cream called SBS-40 when my skin would dry out real bad, but I have not had to use it when it was severe enough to cause pain, but it may be something to look into?

Ya I use that at work, works good.
 
SBS-40 ....that's on the chemical aisle next to the WD-40...right?:whistle:
