Im looking in to getting a small 7 gallon craftsman air compressor. I have an old 30 or 40 gallon 220 volt unit that must be atleast 25 years old. I run the balls out of it and it never let me down. The new one I am going to be using for spraying paint and doing small prep jobs on the BLAZER to limit use on the old machine so I can make it last longer. The unit i am looking at is a 125 psi 1hp oil lube unit. Its a Horizontal stille tank. Its
2.4 cfm at 90 psi.

How have your experences with craftsman compressors been?

A friend of mine has a Craftsman compressor. Other than being noisy, he's had no problems with it. It's a verticle tank, oil less model.

I don't think 2.4cfm is going to enough for painting though. Most guns require 4-7cfm at around 40-50psi.

Most oil less machines have a pretty short duty cycle too, can't let make them run for hours on end without a mechanical failure

Im not gona be like painting the whole truck with it im mainily gona be using it to spray primer and small parts at a time. I have a small pancake compressor that does the job of spraying fine but its my dads and im getting a little to much overspray on it. Ide rather not ruin his compressor.
