Craftsman tools suck....

well knock me over with a feather... the employee said they don't.

i'll get in there and order some. pissed me off that they didn't have any in stock.

No good anymore...

I have a 1/2" and 3 - 3/8" ratchets in a box waiting for a trip back to Sears...along with a few screwdrivers,and sockets..Been meaning to go for months,but I haven't done many repairs lately...

I'm going to stop at the Home Depot down the street just before the Mall Sears in located in,and see if they would exchange the "Craftsman" ones for "Husky" brand..they used too,not sure if they still do..anything is better than Sears ratchets nowadays..

Ever since I started seeing them pop up at flea markets brand new,I noticed the cheap plastic levers on them, and every one I've bought in tool sets the past 5 years was an absolute peice of SH** right out of the box!..and the Sears I go to for warranty replacements when I brought my brand new ones in has a drawer full of ratchets they swap you for yours..NOT a brand new one off the shelf..one time the drawer was empty--so the guy robbed one out of a new "suitcase" tool set..I noticed he snuck my DEFECTIVE one back into the box too, after he thought I walked away, and wasn't paying attention.. the one I got wasn't much better than the POS I took back!..

I suspect many of the tools I see at the swap meets and flea markets are stolen from Sears, and defective ones are swapped in their place..maybe by crackheads or dishonest employees..or maybe what I heard about the factory in Worcester MA that makes most of Sears,S-K,Easco,and Stevens-Walden tools now sell to the general public in large quantity..

The "suitcase" set I bought to keep in my truck a few years ago I noticed the tools are nowhere near the quality of my older ones I still have from the 70's when I was still in school..the "suitcase" is ready to split where it hinges..I've opened it maybe 20 times..and it always spills every tool on the highway if you open it with the "other side up" sign showing!  --now I learn Sears has NO replacement for the case!..

I'm going to avoid Sears for any tools from now on,other than free replacements..I'll be wise to wait a few more weeks before exchanging any more--I bet the "Christmas rush" will keep their tool supply exhausted--I suspect a good many who got Sears ratchets for Christmas will be dissapointed first time they use them..and come storming in demanding new ones the next few weeks..

Git -R- Done, S Burnham!! Can't say I completely agree with your tactics, but I'm there in spirit. In my earlier post, I said that I used to be a hardcore Craftsman man, and that's no exaggeration. I have a garage full of Craftsman tools, that I got one piece at a time, starting with my first wrench set my mom gave me when I was 17. I used to LOVE to just go down to Sears and wander around for an hour just to by one wrench or something. But over the years, they've gone completely to the dogs. Their quality's down the tubes, and the customer service sucks. I think that's the point here. There seems to be a general consensus that they'll try to stick you with a crappy replacement, but if you raise enough hell they'll relent and maybe give you a new one LIKE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO anyway. My feelings are that I just don't need that aggravation in my life. My job, bills and today's new broken part on the Blazer do enough to keep my blood pressure up. I'd rather pay a few dollars extra to the Snap On guy and at least know that I've got a decent, straight-up guy to deal with, and probably a better tool to boot.

I had a nice snapon selection for about 10years and then someone else decided that they needed them more than i did. there is only one snapon guy in my area and he is not easy to deal with. he gave me a hard time on giving me a quote for my tools that got stolen so i could file on insurance. when he finaly got me the quote I asked him if he would stop by where i worked so i could replace my tools. he said he did not have time to stop any where but dealerships and big shops that i would have to track him down when i needed something. Soooo i dont think i am going to do buisness with someone who does not care if he even sells anything. thats why i bought the crapsman stuff. oh i did not origanally purchase my snapon from this guy. i lived somewhere else when those tools were purchased.
