Craig Artzner your 74 has a 74 Jimmy cousin

Pretty nice. Pretty steep, too, for me.

Is it me or were the interior pieces missing in '74? Look at the sides by the rear seat. There's no interior panels on the sides. My '74 has them. Was this an option or what?

Yep, backin the early years of the K5 everything was an option. Even the passenger side seat. The K5 was orginally targeted at farmers and ranchers and came stock with only a vinyl covered drivers seat. The top was also an option, though it seems that most were ordered with it.

That's the way it should be. Instead GM targets everything to the yuppie soccer mom these days.

Sadly, they make what sells the best. :wink1: It's the same reason that manual transmissions are so rare these days. The people that are forking over $30-70K for a new 4WD apparently want an automatic (and leather seats, and GPS navigation, etc, etc.)

If any auto maker thought that they could sell 500,000+ brand new 4WD's a year with only a drivers seat then they would make them. Most of us only shop the used market, so our wants don't matter to the auto makers. :(

Sexy, and its a Jimmy, too.

When I worked at Lockheed (late 90s) they had some stripped down mid 80s chevys. 2WD long wheel-base stepside trucks and a stripped down blazer with no interior panels in the bed area. I'm guessing they were purchased through a fleet deal and not off the lot, but they are out there.
