I've been looking for an engine hoist and an engine stand for a little while now. Average for a decent one at the local tool places is right around $300 for the hoist and $70-$100 for a good sized engine stand.

I almost bought the pair yesterday, but decided to give Craigslist a try first. Found someone selling both, brand new still in the boxes for $250. I offered $225 and took em both home. :D

2 ton capacity, and max lift is 84" under the hook. It also folds up the legs for easier storage.

1250 lb capacity rotating engine stand with tool tray.

This will make it a lot easier to move around all the drivetrain stuff in the coming weeks.

Dayum, are you serious? Down here it's more like $175-200 and $40-60 for a hoist and stand respectively. And we're complaining that the USD is low against the CAD? :haha:

Yeah, that's the difference in retail pricing left over from the days of the higher US dollar. It was well worth the drive for me...

Sweet score. I have been looking for deal like that and have still come up with nada.

Too bad your not a little closer to me. there are several used hoist and stand combo's on KSL.com for $100 each. I've been thinking about buying them then selling them on Eghey

very nice score. My hoist is identical to that one. Use it all the time for various heavy stuff in the garage.

Eeek what's with the 5 lug rim in the background? Are you holding out on us? :)

Nice score... the price sounds right IMO but then again I'm used to Cali prices...

LOL...

Sorta long story. About 8 years ago I bought 5 36" TSL's for dirt cheap. Good tread left...like 40-50% or more. Guy wanted $250, but didn't tell me they were still on rims. They were off an Early Bronco.

4 were good, and I gave the rims to a Ford guy I knew, but the 5th has a sidewall cut so I never bothered getting it dismounted. I kept it around because a friend of mine runs 36's and I thought he might be able to do a sidewall patch and use it as a trail spare.

It has better than 95% tread left, which makes it hard to just throw out, and I keep forgetting to bring it over to his place.

So, the end result is I drag this stupid tire and rim around like an albatross around my neck...

if it makes you feel better the bare white rim further in the background is a 15 x 10 8 lug. (that I also really have no practical use for at the moment and have had nearly as long)

I got one 15x10 8 lug that I cant get rid of either. So did Keith. It might be a CK5 requirement to have one sit in the garage for several years. I almost took it to the scrap yard (sorry, recycling center) today, but the stupid thing is brand new.

If you ever need to move a D70 you will love that hoist. I've used mine quite a few times, but still haven't had an engine on it, yet.

I thought it was a given that we all have some odd-ball rim laying around taking up space...
A friend of mine gave me an old 15x8 8 lug steelie since he has a bronco now and it just finds a nice corner in the garage and stays put...

Definitely a CK5 quirk we all seem to have. My 15x10 is also brand new...and the way I ended up with it has a CK5 connection too. I got home from work one day about 3 or 4 years ago and see a card from the post office telling me there is a parcel waiting for pick-up. I'm thinking "WTF??" because I hadn't ordered anything in months and sure wasn't expecting anything.

I get there and there is this great heavy box from Emmettology101 waiting for me. Me and Mike were pretty good friends online here for a number of years...and apparently he felt I really needed this rim. :haha:

I'd feel bad chucking it out...so I drag it around from place to place.

I'm sure I'll use it one day.

The hoist I bought for a few upcoming jobs. Removing and installing my 6.2 diesel, my NV4500/203/205 combo, my D60 front, my 14 bolt rear, removing a TBI 350, a SM 465, another 14 bolt, a utility bed off the 6 pack project, the cab off the 6 pack project...

It'll be near wore out before summer is over. :D

I think it'll be ok.... your arm is another story though. :D

I've thought of putting an air over hydraulic ram on my hoist so I don't have to pump it up and down a thousand times to get crap off the ground to move around...
