Craigslist Trucks

The Burb sold

Anyways can anyone answer me on the gear ratio, I dont think a 4 speed truck would come with 3.73, or would it?

also what T-case would be on the Jimmy

Thanks

ask him, there are a few possible ratios i believe..not too sure on that, and i think a 208 would bein there..dont quote me on that since i'm probably wrong and someone smarter will chime in, but most likely a 208;

I thought Something like that Would have a 205,

we will find out i am gonna probaly look at it and drive it sunday, I just remember i suck at driving manual, i can do it, but ya. :doah:

An '87 would have fuel injection and a 32 spline 465/208. Not too much wrong with that. The slip yoke kinda sucks and 208's certainly aren't super strong but they are geared low. The 465/208 combo doesn't really need to be geared lower IMO.

That is cheap for that truck (the '87 Blazer) IME, if it is what he claims it is.

So If its Got 3:08's It would Would be fine cause of how low the 465/208 combo is?

For some reason around here things are eathier super cheap or super expensive. We will find out come sunday, the guy is just outside of town, and there is some snow on the ground so i can see if the 4x4 works. lol

It all depends on what tires you want to run and how the truck will be used.

You hear people talk all the time about how much better OD is, but high gears with a 465 can pretty much match it. The 465 has a super low first gear so you will have no trouble starting with pretty much any tire/gear combo. The 1:1 4th gear isn't necessarily that low, especially if you have larger than stock tires.

What I'm getting at is on the street, with high gears (numerically low, like 3.08) you may be able to get good mileage for a K5. Remember that a manual is significantly more efficient than an automatic transmission.

The place where big tires and high gears (with a 4 speed) will really hurt you is offroad, and as I said the 465/208 combo is great for that. The 208 is geared 33.2% lower than the 205. Your potential 3.08's with a 465/208 combo are apprx. the same as a 465/205 with 4.10's. If you ever re-gear then the extra low range from the 208 will always be that much lower.

Of course, this all depends on the tire size you want to run and how much street/off-road time the truck sees.

seems like a great deal at 1700, could proably talk him down to 1500. Just depends on how much rust there is on the bottom.

Lots of great info there

Its gonna be a Daily Driver and Beat on it during the weekend
Its gonna see Mosly street. I need something a little better than my K5 about 8 MPG, if i could get into the double didget that would be great. I think with the manual and fuel injection would get me there I am gonna guess like 14mpg, The guy even has stockish size tires that come with it :haha:

Good luck seeing 14mpg. My '92 with the same TBI 350, a 700R4, 32's and 3.73's, and a slightly more aerodynamic body managed 13-14mpg at best around town. Still, with a TBI 350 it should get 10mpg pretty easily. Take the 35's off and put your other 33's on it.

He says it comes with 3/4 ton axles...bet they have better gearing in them.

I've seen trucks with that combo come with lower gears than the 3.08's. Seems like it was sorta the "old school towing combo" and often they ended up with 3.42's or 3.73's.

If the body's not just GONE it sounds like a decent deal. BUY ONE ALREADY, THE SALT IS HERE!

I never see trucks that cheap down here. I would buy both and make money reselling them

sorry to jack the thread but what is average going on blazers? How much would a 91 all stock, no rust be going for?
sounds like i should buy here and sell them there.
