To those that say its to much build one just as nice for less money and then you can comment that its over priced. Some people on here have no concept of what it REALLY costs to restore a vehicle

would I pay 22,000 for that? Nope sure wouldn't . But I bet he has nearly that in it. depending on what he started with

thats the problem with restos and offroad trucks. my POS offroader has probably 2500 into it. id be lucky to get half that when i sold it. just cause someone puts 22000 into it doesnt mean thats what its worth. i usually see them trucks out here all day restored for around 10,000

Have any of you guys priced out Paint and body work lately??? and I'm not talking about a Maaco or Earl Sheib Scuff and shoot special I'm talking about a quality paint jobe were the do all the bodywork needed paint Everything ( including the inside) . its not cheap it can easily be 10,000 dollars just for the paint and body

Then theres the Drivetrain, and the A/C,and the trim, and the Interior, it dont take long .
Some of you guys need a reality check.

KTMoutfront, I'm sure you have more than 22,000 in your 87, jimmy even if you did most of the work your self.

Do you get what you put into a vehicle?? nope not usuallly, But it doesn't mean you should give it away.

yellowk20 - i agree with you completely, but thats why you build a truck like that to keep, you build it for yourself. the rule with cars is that you never, NEVER get out what you put into em. its just a fact. a sad fact, but a fact. I love the first gen's, and id love to have one. if i had the money, i could see paying 10-12k for that for that reason. but the market value on those trucks, unless its barrett jackson, is much less.

I've been to Barret jackson many, many times back before it was on TV and all the hype. Street rods that cost 200,000 to build sell for 35,000. and Muscle cars that cost 50-60,000 to restore go for 500,00 600,000 . Its crazy its all about what some ones willing to pay...... and what the seller is willing to take.

My 79 K20 isn't "worth" 15,000 but I have at least that much in it . same with my 75 K10 stepside . I love my trucks and thats why I do it . But if I ever sold them I damn sure wouldn't let them go for Half or less of what it would cost to duplicate them.

Either way , the attitudes about pricing on here cracks me up cuz I know what it really costs to build truck of that caliber, you may be able to buy a comparable truck for cheaper but only because the seller is willing to take a bigger loss

and point made. you never know, maybe the guys wife is telling him to get rid of it, and he's pricing it according to the money he spent on it, knowing the market value is lower, hoping he wont get a taker (i didnt read the ad) all kinda variables. So yeah, i agree with you 100%, if i dumped a crap ton of money into a vehicle, and couldnt get my money out of it, barring emergency money issues, id drive it till the wheels fell off. but thats you and me, the rest of the world has its own priorities. I dont think anyone here id doubting the money and work the guy invested, just his idea of what people are willing to pay for it.

well said, I like my vehicles I'd just keep them before I'd sell them for less than I think there worth

I know I could never get out what I have in it. That is why it will never be for sale. If I ever got bored with it, it would be parted out into a new project. I think our point is that if you pay for a restore, plan on keeping it forever or be reasonable when you sell it and take the loss. You have to pay to have fun if you are not building a 69 Camaro or Charger.

its a known fact that you never get back what you put into a vehicle! so when i say he's nuts, i mean he's nuts for ASKING that much $
