I recently put the top on my 1975 Jimmy, this is the first time its had a roof since i've owned it, and essentially the first time rolling up all of the windows. However, I noticed that when rolling up the tailgate window with the crank, all goes smooth and easy until the last inch of rolling it up. When i get to about the last inch to roll up, the crank just skips and nothing happens. I can roll it back down just fine and it will go right back up to that exact same point, but will not fully close leaving a nasty half inch gap on the driver side.

Anybody else have this issue? If so, what did you have to do to fix it?

Bumping this up, I know somebody out there has to have run into the same issue. Anybody out there with the manual rear window having issues getting it to roll up the last inch or so?

So you say you have a 1/2" gap on drivers side? It's going up uneven? It sounds like a regulator issue with something loose or a bad nylon wheel that rides in the track that is attached to the bottom of the glass. Pull the inspection cover off and take a look, if you roll the window up with the gate down, make sure you support the glass.
All of mine are electric, but you should be able to see something with the cover off.

I think I found the cause

I took the panel off the rear door, disconnected the window sash from the regulator and pulled the regulator assembly out. Upon initial inspection everything looked in order, so i decided to roll it roll it all the way to the down position and BOOM! Found the problem... i think. Lol.

It looks like a few teeth are stripped out on the driver side arm in the nearly closed position. I think this is what is causing the skipping. See pics below.

I guess now, I'll have to either suck it up and buy a new regulator from LMC or start a post on CK5 about needing a new manual rear window regulator
